I’m gonna go with BLAKE

Posted in American Idol 6 on May 23, 2007 by naziah

Wow! Finally… I managed to get most of my comments up for AI this year. And for the finale, I’m not gonna comment on each performance. Malas la… Just to sum up the 2 contestants;

Jordin: She’s a better singer than Blake.
Blake: Other than Bo Bice’s acapella performance of ‘In A Dream’, I think he is one of the best performer ever in AI history.

Why I say Blake? Jordin is NOT the best singer in the competition. Mindy Doo was. If audience choose AI based on vocal, neither Jordin nor Blake should get the title. Mindy Doo should. I think this is a battle between 2 fan base. Jordin is the all American Girl singer and Blake is the next generation performer. So I choose Blake because both of them don’t deserve to get the title because of their vocal. Blake wins my vote because he is a great performer on stage. This season, it’s not about the singing anymore. It’s about the whole package.

Way to go Miss Doolittle!

Posted in American Idol 6 on May 16, 2007 by naziah

I would like to start off my review by saying, WHAT THE HECK WERE THE JUDGES THINKING?????????? No! I’m not talking about AI. I’m talking about our Miss Universe 2007. Maybe beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder BUT the beholder is not the one who’s deciding who gets the crown. At least get somebody who doesn’t scare the judges away with the classic ‘Ah Soh’ look. Such a let down…

Now back to Idol. Top 3 already… So fast! It feels like only yesterday Ian Bernardo made a fool out of himself. If you dunno who Ian bernardo is, checkout youtube for his audition. He’s even bitchier than Marc (Wilhemina’s assistant in Ugly Betty). All in all, tonight, was a good show.

Mindy Doo: 1st performance; I Believe In You And Me, was good. No one can ever sing like Whitney but Mindy’s version was good too. She made the song singable by normal people with normal singing range. 2nd song; Nut Bush City Limits, I’ve never heard the song but am loving the energy of the performance. She even did the ‘mike stand’ (that’s what I call the rocker mike stand throw thingy). Excellent! 3rd song; I’m A Woman; Of all the song that she could pick, she repeated a song. Not that I have any problem with the song but why repeat? At least she did the whole performance in a more bombastic way.

Blake: 1st song; Roxanne, a good performance by Blake. I like the fact that he didn’t change the song to his style. 2nd song; This Love; was awesome! I think it’s one of his best performance throughout the competition. The song suits his style. 3rd song; When I Get You Alone, I’ve never heard this song either. But another great performance. Very clever of him to chose this type of song.

Jordin: 1st song; Wishing On A Star, this is the only performance by Jordin that I like tonight. Despite Simon’s disappointment on the arrangement, I actually thought the jazzy vibe makes the song ‘new’. 2nd song; She Works Hard For The Money, the performance lacks energy. I dunno how to describe it but she should’ve sang it with an extra ‘kick’. 3rd song; I Who Have Nothing, another repeat offender! The difference between her and Mindy, she sings it like she first sang it.

My prediction; Mindy and Blake. I just hope people don’t forget to vote for Mindy to save the other two. But to tell the truth, I don’t think Mindy deserve to be in the competition. She’s a professional singer. She just haven’t been discovered yet. I’m not surprised if people don’t vote for her. Blake has his own unique style. The younger generation likes his style but the ol’ skool people will not vite for him. Jordin is a young girl with an old soul. She can sing but her performance is not strong. Watcha guys think? I dunno la… Am just excited about the result tomorrow…

p/s: go to www.missunverse.com and checkout the rest of the delegates. Seriously… Am not saying she’s ugly, but I think we can do better. My favourite is Miss Tanzania. She’s bald!!!!! If she wins, the crown will be placed on her bald head. Heheheheheheh…..

Oh Abang Jon!

Posted in American Idol 6 on May 2, 2007 by naziah

I’m so much biased and more critical this week because Bon Jovi is my favourite rock group of all time! What’s not to love? Richie Sambora? Hot! Tico Torres? Hot! David Bryan? Great musician! Abang Jon? Super duper extra hot with his Superman tattoo on the side! Not to mention their music rawks! This week, is one of the best week I’ve seen on idol. Again, might be because of the whole Bon Jovi theme but also I think the contestants really dig into their inner rocker feel. My negative comment would be on Paula Abdul’s attire. The theme clearly says ‘ROCK’ and she came looking like someone who just came back from a meeting. Before I get all emotional on her baju, lemme go into my list this week…

Mindy Doo: Excellent song choice! I thought she would do a slow number to suit her better. Instead, she rawks it with Have A Nice Day. I love her attitude that compliments the song as well. I think one of my favourite Mindy Doo moment throughout Idol.

Phil: Blaze Of Glory is an absolute must in the theme. I’m glad he did it. It was good. He did well vocally. The baju tho, looks like a country singer baju.

Lakisha: I still don’t like her personality but her rendition of This Ain’t A Love Song was good. I didn’t like the idea of singing a slow song in a rock themed week but she did the song justice.

Blake: As a hardcore Bon Jovi fan, I must say I did not like the idea of changing the nature of Shot Thru The Heart, BUT, it was entertaining. Still not too thrill of the beat-boxing + rocking the song thingy.

Chris: Nasal boy trying too hard to nail Wanted Dead Or Alive. Not blaming him for his vocal capability tho. The theme doesn’t suit him.

Jordin: There’s a few hundred Bon Jovi songs and she chose something that she can’t do. That’s the problem with her version of Living On A Prayer. She should have done the accoustic version of the song and do it more intimately. But I doubt she’s going back this week…

My prediction: Since there’ll be 2 people getting eliminated and the votes for last week counts, I’d say Phil and Chris are going home. Why? I would love it if Lakisha’s vote last week could have send her home but her performance this week might have saved her. Jordin did pretty well last week and she does have a strong fan base. Blake’s performance last week was good. This week depends on the viewers opinion of his performance. Like Simon said, half will hate it and half will like it. Mindy Doo is no where near the exit door. Phil is good but not memorable enough. Chris is just the victim of the situation. Since Sanjaya’s out, there’s nobody else to eliminate…. So let’s not vote for Chris… Heheheheh…

You look nice tonight Mr Cowell!

Posted in American Idol 6 on April 25, 2007 by naziah
My two favourite things combined together tonight:
White rolled-up sleeve shirt + Simon Cowell
He looked absolutely attractive! And the video clips of him going around doing charity actually gives us a glimpse of his human side. It’s really hard to be half human and half pure evil… Like Catherine, I kno she’s strugling to blend in but wat’s up wif the weather lately? Did Janice piss you off again? Heheheheheh…
Anyway; back to the show, I’m not feeling very well today. Down wif a possibility of getting a fever. My throat hurts and burns. I slept at 4am last nite. I’m still doing the whole re-enactment of puking scene of the Exorcist… Sigh… Not much in a mood until I saw Simon in a white shirt… :) . Here’s my list for the week:
  1. Phil: This is the first time he gave me goosebumps. The song was good and his vocal was excellent. I agree with Simon. he should put a little bit of the ‘country vibe’ in it to give the perfect coating.
  2. Mindy Doo: Obviously fantastic again. She’s second tonite because I don’t kno the song and not liking it that much. But as usual, she doesn’t need to win this to get a contract.
  3. Blake: Me, loving the song and the performance tonite. I agree wif Paula and Simon. It was a sensitive and touching performance.
  4. Jordin: I disagree wif Randy. Her vocal tonite is the best vocal we’ve ever heard in American Idol. For me, she did a great job on the song but I dunno… It was just ok…
  5. Chris: Ok la…. Not that bad. Still not liking the nasally vocal.
  6. Lakisha: She butchered the song. I hope she goes back this week.

My verdict: Lakisha might not be going home just yet. I’m not surprised if it’s either Chris or Phil goes home. Even Blake might be in a tight spot. So for me, one of the boys will go. BUT I really, really hope Lakisha is out.

Yeehaw!

Me not liking the genre for AI this week, might have some effect towards my opinion. It’s not that I dislike it. I’m just not a fan. There are some songs that I like and some singers that I think is great like Kenny Rogers and Keith Urban. Maybe it’s the song choice tonight that I’m not liking. Anyways, just a quick one. We’ll start from the bottom this time:

7. Lakisha – I hate her attitude. The look on her face when the judges gave her their comments is so “You are so wrong and I’m so gonna be the next American Idol”. Carrie sang that song beautifully and she screamed the song very poorly.

6. Chris – Nasal boy using his natural ability as an excuse… Some people does sound nasally (like Siti Nurhaliza) sometimes but at least they sound good. He sounded not so good and using it as an excuse is so gonna cost him this week.

5. Sanjaya – I agree with Simon. It was fun keeping him for a few weeks but this has got to stop. I like the song. He could actually sing it better if he stop smiling creepily when he sings. Some part of the vocal was okay but 80% was just lazy. Yes! That’s the word… LAZY…

4. Blake – Not liking the performance but at least he’s better than those 3 people.

3. Phil – Not liking the song but he sounds good.

2. Jordin – Great vocal! The song choice was good. For me, it felt like me, sitting in a bar somewhere in Kansas, listening to the singer on stage while waiting for my Buffalo Wings to arrive (I can’t say beer can I?!!!).

1. Mindy Doo – She should just withdraw from the competition. I bet Labels are waiting for her to come out and grab her by the collar to sign up with them. The song choice was excellent. With that song, I was at a Corn Fair somewhere in Kansas, eating corn and watching people ride the bull!

So I guess every week we wish Sanjaya will go. But this week I pray he really goes. Otherwise, Chris or Lakisha will be out before him.

p/s: Why Kansas? Clark Kent is a country boy who lives in a farm in Smallville, Kansas. Why Clark Kent? For those who don’t kno me, I’m obsessed with Superman and Smallville. Besides, Kansas is the only ‘country’ like place that I kno of. Yes…yes… My general knowledge of the American Geography is not good.

Besame Mucho!

Posted in American Idol 6 on April 11, 2007 by naziah

He did it again. This time I’m pretty sure it’s the song and his performance. I’m so excited to give this week’s review that I didn’t want to wait a minute before the show is over to start typing. Maybe it’s the confusing pregnancy hormones (I did went to work this morning at 7am on my annual leave day!). But let’s get loud children!!!!

So this week’s theme is Latin. My prediction of them singing either Gloria Estefan or Santana is correct. Jennifer Lopez looked ‘tall and leggy’. Did she put on extra legs? But she did give some good advice that some of them choose to ignore. I will further discuss this… Now… For my list of the week. Don’t be surprised but I feel he deserves to be where he is in the list this week. :p

Look at his ‘I’m not a girl, not yet a woman’ face! The janggut and misai looks drawn instead of grown. Throughout the performance he was seducing the camera instead of the audience. At the end of the song he looked as if he wanted to cry. But I love his vocal tonight. It suits the song very well. Actually, I have always love the song ‘Besame Mucho’. It’s one of the sexiest latin song ever. And kudos to Sanjaya, he actually sang a LATIN song. Unlike the rest….

Mindy Doo comes second in my list this week. I never thought ‘Sway’ is in the latin category. It’s always been jazzy. Her vocals were superb as usual. But I agree with Simon. The problem with Mindy Doo and Lakisha; they don’t know how to choose contemporary songs. They always go for oldies or big voice songs. I hope her fans can maintain their loyalty to her.

3rd on my list is Jordin. Song choice was just too obvious for latin week. She could do better songs. Maybe sing one of Shakira’s songs. She did a funky job on No Doubt week. She should’ve taken it broader than Gloria Estefan/Jennifer Lopez’s loop. But I like her vocals. She sang it well.

Next is Blake’s version of I need to know. Not my favourite song but Marc Anthony is one of the sexiest voice in latin music. NO! Not him sexy physically. He’s so skinny and reminds me of a mouse. His vocal is excellent. Blake’s performance was just okay. I thought he looked like a fisherman with the hat and all….

Nasal Boy is back! He is nasally again… Contemporary? Yes! But he sounded like Justin Timberlake trying to sing that song. Well… He even move like JT. Poor dude… Must be hard for him to get his own identity when he’s constantly being compared to JT.

Who else? Hmm…. I must be missing somebody out…. Oh! Wait! Lakisha! Yes… Her performance was not memorable. It was so flat. She should’ve listen to JLo on the dancing/moving part. As always, she thinks that she is smarter than the accomplished artist themselves. Ask for advise, and then disregard it. Humph! I’m not surprised if people don’t vote for her this week. It was another one of those obvious latin song of the week.

Phil did okay until he spoil it all at the end. So kesian… Trying too hard to impress JLo. But if I were a guy, and JLo sitting in fornt of me, I’ll get excited too! Who knows… Phil might be her next husband… HAHAHAHAHAH!

Last but not least, Jiggly Scarnato. Very smart tactic. Wear as short as you can to blind the voters from the actual purpose of the competition. I pity her too. Simon was just too cruel to state the obvious in front of everybody. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Verdict: Hard to say… Every week I say either Phil or Haley. But I’m not surprise if either Jordin or Lakisha goes home too. Their song choice was not favourable. Same like Gina last week….

Gina is out!

Posted in American Idol 6 on April 5, 2007 by naziah

Good afternoon friends!

I apologize for the delay of my ‘ulasan’ this week. My network card @ home got struck by the lightning and I can’t masuk internet for the time being. Hence, am doing this in the ofis….

As the title says, Gina Glocksen is out this week. Sorry if this spoils the fun of those who likes to wait for the results show. Here’s my list for the week;

  1. Chris – Yes… Yes… I like his performance this week. I thought it was good. Vocally and the whole thing….
  2. Mindy – Like Simon said, ‘we’ll never be able to criticize you’…..
  3. Jordin – She really can belt it out. I dun like her outfit. She looks like a waitress….
  4. Blake – I like the song. Goes well with his voice.
  5. Lakisha – No comment…
  6. Sanjaya – I always sing that song in the ofis… “Heaven… I’m in heaven…” That bit only la… He can actually sing but needs to stop ’smiling’. The smile is spoiling his vocal…
  7. Gina – Serves her right for answering back at Simon. She shud just be humble and admit that Mindy and Jordin sang better than her.
  8. Haley – Kesian this girl… She was rolling her eyes when Simon said ‘you have great legs’… Also Paula saying “you look good in green” doesn’t help her evaluate her performance…
  9. Phil – The song is so yucks. He’s not up to par with the rest. Lucky him people still vote for him.

I especially like Simon last night. He was so fed up with the viewers that he didn’t even bother to give his opinion. The ‘incredible’ he gave Sanjaya was hillarious!

Anyways; just a quick ‘hi’ to Lin Poh. If you r reading this, I have missed you!

And the results are in…

As expected, Chubby Chris goes home this week. Bottom 3 was him, Haley and Phil. Jiggly is safe again this week. Geez! Enuff with her already!!!! We have Sanjaya to survive with for God knos how many more weeks. Not another tag-along person!!!!!!!!
Nways… I was thinking about the songs that I would like them to sing but none came up to my mind. I guess my creativity and imagination is not as active as before. Hence, I spend my off day morning by ‘decorating’ my blog. Notice the loads of links and watevers? Also that picture of Oscar the Grouch is one of my favourites. I actually labelled most of my entries as well. That’s how free I am today. I just finished downloading Supernatural and Smallville episode16. I’ll be watching it later in the afternoon. I wanted to catch the Idol re-run at 11am but was so hooked up with organizing the blog. Oh well! I can always watch the performances in youtube.
Also, here’s the latest Harry Potter book cover. The final book is called ‘Harry potter and the deathly hallows’. Will be on sale on the 21st July this year. Can’t wait to get my copy of the book. Also can’t wait for the movie 5th movie to come out.

Gwen Stefani is the coolest!

Posted in American Idol 6 on March 28, 2007 by naziah

In my opinion, another good week for the AI. Not only because half of them did a good job, also due to Gwen Stefani. I think she’s one of the most excellent artist. She definitely don’t have the voice, but the ‘package’ is great. Funky songs that don’t require you to be vocally ‘Mindy-Doody’ (another new vocab which means professionally excellent singer), fashionably fantastic, very unique style (rambut, makeup…etc..), and not to mention a very beautiful husband (he was gorgeous in Constantine!). But enough about Gwen Stefani. My time on the PC now is 7.21pm and it’s only 21 minutes past the AI in astro. I have a few ’surprises’, so can’t wait to share my thoughts with you folks. Same as always, my list from top to bottom.

  1. Mindy Doo – Some might feel her song choice was too boring but I love it. At least she don’t sing sobsob songs like ‘Jiggly Scarnato’…
  2. Phil Stacey – One of my ’surprises’ this week. I love the whole thing. From the song choice, to the vocal. I tot he did well by sticking to the original version.
  3. Gina G – Second surprise… Rocker Chick Wannabe (RCW) did very well by choosing that song. Suits her voice. She should stick to singing that type of mellow rock songs instead of Chris Daughtry’s type of rock.
  4. Chris R – Nasal boy did ok. The song don’t suit him that much but I like the performance. He still sounds very nasal tho…
  5. Jordin – What’s with the Britney Spears outfit? She vocally reminds me of Christina Aguilera. She got a very good voice but not liking the song.
  6. Sanjaya – OH MY GOD! This is the highest that he could ever get from me. Unbelievable… The vocal was not good, and he kept messing up the lyrics, but the whole performance kept me sane this time around. I think it’s the song. Bathwater is my favourite No Doubt song. and I love the hair too. The mohawk was cute… —-> I must really be out of my mind tonight!
  7. Lakisha – Typical of her type of performance. She and Mindy Doo have the tendency to sing ‘black’ songs (not racist aaa… I meant song for big voices..). I kno that they shouldn’t be risking their week with changing their song pattern but it’s too predictable. The only difference between her and Mindy Doo is the charisma of the performance. She lacks it…
  8. Chris S – This dude is really falling apart. Now I feel that the jokes he make is a part of an act to win people’s vote. Very the fake… The performance was not good at all!
  9. Blake – I don’t get the whole idea of the performance. Maybe I’m not familliar with the song but it was too boring. I like Blake but tonight I just don’t get the performance. Like Simon, I think I have different preferences of song choice for all of them.
  10. Haley – Jiggly was the only contestant that didn’t put up a fight tonight. Very Celine Dionish type of performance. Everyone was trying to be hip and up-tempo and she came out like singing the national anthem. Tsktsktsk…

My prediction: Either Haley or Chubby Chris goes home. No amount of jiggling could save Haley tonight. Sanjaya will stay because of the hair and again, quoting Mr Cowell, whatever the judges say about him don’t have any effect on the voters. Either people kesian him or just like to see him as a joke subject.

And since I’m off tomorrow, I’ll think of my ideal song for the contestants (yes… I’m that bored….)

A special ‘Hi’ to Ida Z who just notify me that she is one of my friends who actually visits my blog…

Also to one of the loves of my life, Marina; once u come back to KL, we’ll go the zoo to checkout the geeses and the ducks… :p

Bravo! Wot a good show!

Posted in American Idol 6 on March 21, 2007 by naziah

I enjoyed tonight’s show not just because most of them sang nicely, but because the song selections were fantastic. So here’s my komens…… Listed below from my fave to the least:

  1. Mindy Doo – The song choice was absurdly boring but she kept me playing the performance clip in youtube for almost 10 times in 30 minutes. Not a tune sang badly.
  2. Chris Richardson – Nasal boy did his homework very well. I love the song and the performance. So sexy…
  3. Jordin Sparks – Like Simon, I feel like my love life was ending and the sun will never shine again. The emotion was good and the vocal was even better. Not liking the song choice of you don’t get my first sentence.
  4. Blake Lewis – Only one word could describe the whole performance: ZIAHLICIOUS (quirky, weird, excellent, super sexy vibe… Cat, don’t even think about rolling your eyes! Ben, haha! Funny! I’m not referring myself as ’sexy’. It’s just the word ‘ziahlicious’ sounded like ’sexy’)
  5. Chris Sligh – The song was good, his vocal wasn’t that bad, but not a favourite to me.
  6. Gina Glocksen – Again, it’s the song that I like, not her. She sucked big time. She ’s trying too hard to be a rocker chick.
  7. Lakisha – I don’t like her attitude. Last week, she asked Diana Ross for advise on using the mic stand, and didn’t take it. And this week, she asked Lulu’s opinion on song choice and didn’t take it. This type of people will be divas once they’re out there. The song choice was okay. The vocal was just fine. We all kno she can sing.
  8. Stephanie Edwards – Kesian her… She got talent but no taste. Song choice was bad. She’s also trying too hard to be like Lakisha and Mindy Doo. Sing all this sobsob songs and sounded very old. And what’s with the boots and satin dress? Even I kno those 2 don’t match…
  9. Phil Stacey – He got voice. the only problem is, he’s not likeable enough.
  10. Haley – As per Janice, she might be safe tonight because her boobies were bouncing all over the place. That should be the remeberence point for her.
  11. Sanjaya – Dear God! Why are the Americans punishing us with another week of him?!

My verdict: Sanjaya’s safe because of the song choice. Either Phil or Stephanie or Haley will be booted out.
