The best finale so far

Posted in American Idol 7 on May 23, 2008 by naziah

Why?

  • Cookie Monster won.
  • Robert Downey Jr was sooooo fine… Jack Black was funny as usual.
  • George Michael is still very gorgeous.
  • Jason Castro performed alone… He didn’t share his ‘thunder’ with anybody else…
  • Simon Cowell was so happy with the results… The happiest I’ve ever seen him on a finale.

I’m very much busy at the moment. Once I’m free, I’ll post up more nonsense.

Kiss, kiss, hug, hug: Queen Naboo (I’ve been watching Nacho Libre for the past one week… :-D )

We vote for Cookie Monster!

I might not be able to watch AI this week… My mom will undergo a surgery to remove some what what from her hands (I dunno what surgery… I think to unblock a few nerves so that she don’t feel achy all over her body). Anyways, I will be playing ‘nurse’ today and tomorrow and Thursday. I hope the room in Damansara Specialist got Channel 711 la… If not, it’s okay… It’s not the end of the world… :-)

This season should be interesting. It will be a battle between 2 fan group. Both Davids have the talent and was very much the 2 favorites from the start. Let’s start with Elmo,

David Archuleta: He can forget all the lyrics every week and he will still be the 2 finalists. This kid can do no wrong. He’s just too adorable. IMO, for him to score big this finale, is to choose the correect song(s). In the past few weeks, he’s been very ol’ fashion in his song selections. And when he tried to be current again by taking on Chris Brown’s song, it just doesn’t suit him. I love THAT performance but it was a bit out of place. He’s very well connected with the oldies. He needs to work his magic like what he did with the Beatles song. I think, so far, ‘Imagine’ was his strongest performance. But who cares what I think. He’s got a few million screaming tweens who will vote for him. Go team Elmo!

David Cook: My first impression was; Daughtry wannabe. And now, I think he’s better than Daughtry. Why? He’s very smart. He doesn’t ALWAYS change the arrangements of the songs. But when he doesn’t, the judges kept saying he’s losing his touch. I think it’s a smart move. You can’t rock out Andrew Llyod Webber’s song! Certain songs needs to be sung as it is. And throughout the season, he’s got more A+ performances than the other contestants. The only thing that I don’t fancy about him is his pompous attitude. But whatever… If I can vote, it will definitely be him.

Btw, my fave Idols NEVER wins the title. Here’s a list of who I thought should’ve won the title:

First and Second: Didn’t kno AI exist…

Third: Anyone but Jasmine Trias… I like Anwar Robinson a lot on this season. But he’s not very versatile.

Fourth: Bo Bice. Just because he’s gorgeous. :-D

Fifth: Elliot Yamin… Hands down!

Sixth: Mindy Doo of course!

I hope my pick wins this season…

I will never miss a thing!

I am so biased… He sang 2 of my favorite songs, and I thought he was da bomb! David Cook (let’s call him Cookie Monster…) sounded the part and even looked the part. If he doesn’t win the title, I have no worry as he will be one of the highest selling artist from AI.

This week’s comments:

David A @ Elmo (because he is sooo adorable like Elmo) – He CAN sing. There is not a single doubt that Elmo can sing. However, I agree whole-heartedly with Mr Cowell, it was predictable. I only liked the second song. I thought it was a good performance.

Syesha – Err… If she ever passed this week, I don’t kno what to say… She can sing but most of the time she was pitchy. And not very good song choice either. Happy feet… pffffuit!!

Cookie Monster – Clever Simon gave him an old song to re-vamp which was so very predictable. And then he sang Dare you to move by Switchfoot. I love that song ever since I watched A walk to remember. That’s one of my ‘emo’ song. And theeeen, he sang Aerosmith. Steve Tyler is the best rocker ever. And Cookie Monster really knos how to arrange his performances… It was so dramatic, with the violinist on stage surrounding him… Go Cookie Monster!!!!!

No doubt I’m hoping Syesha goes home but she survived every single week in the bottom 2. Might there be a shocker and one of the muppets goes home? We’ll see… As for the winner; my vote goes to Cookie Monster.

Possibly the end…

… for Jason Castro. After the big psychic prediction by Paula, I think Jason just lost it. Who wouldn’t, right? So kesian… I was so (and still is) hoping for a top 3 male ensemble… Syesha will be safe due to the fancy ‘waterworks’ she did and that speech about doing research and the civil right thingy is just a classic! Way to go bottom 2 girl!  She’s really lucky. Every week in the bottom 2 and now she’s in the top 4. And that’s how she will get to the top 3 as well… Watever it is, it is now obvious the finale will be David vs David.

No particular review this week. I’m still angry with Paula for last week and I’m particularly sad about Jason’s own defeat this week. I’m just glad he lasted this long…

Paula Abdul is psychic!

And I have no mood to watch the show and write any comments just because of her… Either the show is totally rigged or she was stoned again!

Just to sum up (according to appearance order);

  • Jason – I agree with Simon… He lost his ‘touch’ for the last 2 weeks.
  • David C – Excellent performances but he needs to wipe of that pompous look away.
  • Brooke – Err… I hope she goes back tomorrow.
  • David A – Boring…
  • Syesha – Forgettable.

Bottom 2: A combination between Jason, Brooke, or Syesha.

Who’s going home: Brooke or Syesha.

P/S: I am in luv wif my new header… Courtesy of the ever so lovely, Mrs C… Tenkiu! Tenkiu!

Well, Hello there Mr Cook!

David Cook

Andrew Llyod Webber is a tough person to please. He didn’t look happy even after a relatively good performance by Little David. But then again, if you are the writer of those fabulous song and someone forgot the lyrics when singing it, I’d be pissed too….

Overall, I think it’s a tough week. You need to be a specific type of singer to be able to sing big huge broadway style. Not everyone can do it. But having said that, David Cook is one smart and talented person. I’ll tell you  why, in my list…

  1. David Cook – Why? Because for a person who almost always changes the arrangement of the songs he picked, he stick to the original this time. And for that, he sounded different and really, really sexy. He proves that he can sing anything!
  2. Jason Castro – Still one of my favorite of the nite. I personally think that he might be in the bottom 2 and might even go home, but his performance was genuine. And you can see that he was scared like hell in the interview. He was really worried and I think he expect himself in the bottom 2 tomorrow…
  3. Little David – he boy who can sing, sang very well. Good arrangement for the song. But forgot the lyrics again. It’s just not too obvious this time…
  4. Brooke – I love the song and I thought she did well despite what the judges say. What I don’t like is the fact that she kept doing that stunt (wrong note, can i start all over again please?)… That was soooo last week!
  5. Syesha – The problem with Syesha is that she is really forgettable. Her vocal was superb but I couldn’t remember any part of it at all.
  6. Carly – Why is she shouting? Throughout the song she kept shouting. It’s like she got super excited and can’t control her voice. I didn’t like it.

Bottom 3: Jason, Brooke, and Syesha

I hope Jason stays because I think he was just too nervous this week…

The ‘MIMI’ week

Posted in American Idol 7 on April 16, 2008 by naziah

She’s a music genius. She gave really, really good advise to the contestants this week. I never thought that I’d say this but Mariah Carey is SO not a bimbo…

I also thought that this week will be the end of the road for either Jason Castro or David Cook. It’s a girlie-girl song week. How the hell would a rocker and a hippie survive?!!! And then, they PERFORMED… When you have talent, you HAVE talent.

  1. David Cook – He sang one of my favorite Mariah’s song. Turned it to something that I can sing and it was amazing. Like what Paula said, I can already imagine the song as a soundtrack in a chick flick. o David Cook! I’m officially a huge big phat fan of yours. On a different note, this was a special week for him because his sick brother flew all the way from wherever (after being rejected by doctors a few times) to see him perform. (@v@)
  2. Jason Castro – Just like sunset at the beach… That’s how I imagine the whole performance. He looked beautiful as always and another fantastic week for him as well.
  3. KLC – I’m surprised that I liked her performance. Another one of my favorite song from Mariah. I love the fact that KLC sang it with a country twang. Not a bad vocal.
  4. David A – Didn’t like it that much but the boy can sing.
  5. Carly – She’s got the voice but this might also be one of her worst.
  6. Brooke – She could’ve scored big with the song but it was like out of tempo. Second half of the song, she was out of breath.
  7. Syesha – Very powerful voice and yet so forgettable. She’s at the bottom of my list tonight because I couldn’t remember her performance at all.

Bottom 3: Carly, Brooke and Syesha.

Who’s going? Hmmmm….. Either Brooke or Carly.

Somewhere Over The Rainbow

The great Braddah Iz

Never once I cried on any singing performance ever. I did today because I tot the song was just beautiful. I dedicate this AI post to the late Israel Kamakawiwo’ole…

I must say, IMO, this week’s AI is the best so far. There are a few weird song choices but it was good. Not too many sappy songs (since it’s insparational week). So here’s my list;

  1. Jason – A beautiful man, singing a beautiful song… What more can I say? This will be one of the most remembered performance in idol history, along with Fantasia’ Summertime, Bo Bice’s In A Dream, David Cook’s Billie Jean, and Constantine’s Bohemian Rhapsody.
  2. David A – It’s not his best performance but it was still very good.
  3. Brooke White – Just because I love the song. I hate it that she keeps making that ‘I’m-innocent-with-sympathetic’ face. Her vocal was good but she like a bit out of tempo.
  4. David C – Again, it’s the song that I like, not the performance. I agree with Simon. After 2 weeks was excellent performances, it’s getting hard to keep up with yourself.
  5. KLC – I’m surprised that she pulled the song off pretty well. Not good, just okay. But very forgettable…
  6. Michael ‘the pants’ Johns – Even the pants couldn’t save him this time. I didn’t like it at all.
  7. Carly – What’s with all the anger?
  8. Syesha – So, so very not clever of her to choose a big song which was sung by a big voice like Fantasia. Of course she’ll be compared to the original singer. Duh!

My bottom 3: Syesha, Carly and Michael. KLC might be safe due to all the positive comments the judges gave her.

Who’s leaving? As long as it’s not Jason, I’m fine… But my money is on Syesha.

And just for Lisa, who is stuck in Adelaide with NO AI, enjoy the performance…

Howdy Pard’ner!

Thanks to Rickey.org, I have this beautiful picture of my beautiful man… Ain’t he gorgeous?! I didn’t pay a lot of attention to some of the performance because I’m pretty much busy (my in-laws are in town) and I had a full day of running around doing stuff today. I only like 3 performances and the rest are so forgettable. IMO;

  • Carly Smithson rocked the whole nite! I loved the song and her performance. But I agree with Simon, she should fire the stylist who arranged her attire… FUGLY!
  • David Archuleta does a great job as well. I still like Carly’s performance better.
  • My beautiful man, Jason, did a good job on the wardrobe bit. I love his top! I wonder where I can get it? Heehee… And his hair looks great up than down. His performance was one of my favorite but not the best of the nite. He needs to do something TOTALLY different to make an impact. If they ever decide to have a ‘latin nite’, he should sing La Bamba.
  • I love what David Cook did to his hair. He looks much, much, much better. Not liking the song tho…
  • The rest of them are just okay… All not very memorable performance, I have to say…

My bottom 3: Syesha, Ramiele and Brooke White.

Who’s leaving?: Syesha… Ramiele might still be saved because she’s Asian (not being racist here but a lot of the Asian community in USA most probably voted for her). Brooke White, she’s got her own fan base. But who knos… Might there be a shocker this week and she gets voted off?

p/s: I love Dolly Parton. She should stop doing surgery to face and now she looks like a melting candle….

This is not good for…

Posted in American Idol 7 on March 26, 2008 by naziah

… Jason Castro. He’s no longer the brightest amongst the pack of shining stars! I’m disappointed… Straight to my list, from top to bottom;

  1. David Cook – I shall call him ‘the brave one’. He’s really insane to turn Billie Jean into an almost suicidal sounding song (Cat, his version can be in our ’song list’, right behind ‘All by myself’…). It was bloody brilliant! Michael Jackson’s fans will either hate it, or love it. I still think he lacks originality because of the whole Daughtry-era. Nonetheless, his voice was superb.
  2. Brooke White – I love the song. Same case as ‘If I fell’, I don’t care if it was out of tune, I just love the song. The first half of her performance was fantastic. She should have just kept singing with the piano only.
  3. Carly – Again, it’s all about the song. I agree with Simon. Her whole performance was really ‘tense’. It’s as if she’s forcing her voice out of her throat.
  4. Jason Castro – I’m disappointed with the whole thing. From his ugly skin-colored pants with the oh-so-not matching shirt to the ‘too-laid-back-attitude’. He’s definitely NOT gonna win this season (Archuleta will..), but at least I wanna see him go far. Top 5 at least. Anywhos, I still love the song and I think it suits him well. He just needs to do something with it so that it won’t sound so karaoke-ish.
  5. Chikezie – I have to say, that his vocal is really good. The performance was nothing special tho…
  6. David Archuleta – So this boy can sing… SO WHAT?! He’s really cute too… That’s another plus point for him. Not loving the song choice.
  7. Michael Johns – His fans will definitely disagree with me. But why is he shouting instead of singing? And again, this is another case of ‘comparing-to-the-previous-idol-thingy’. No one can sing a Queen’s song better than Constantine Maroulis.
  8. Syesha – Can sing, but such a sappy song! Very forgettable… That’s the problem with her.
  9. Ramiele – I still don’t like her.
  10. KLC – WTH?! God Bless America? It’s as if someone singing ‘Negaraku’ in Akademi Fantasia or Malaysian Idol…. I don’t get it…

My verdict; bottom 3: KLC, Carly, and Chikezie. I think Chikezie is going home this week. KLC might be saved because of her patriotic song. She should go on campaign for Hillary Clinton… Heehee… However, there might be an upset this week and Carly or Jason might go home…. Let’s just hope it’s not Jason….
